Thursday 1/18/18

Arrived in Maui at Kahului airport mid afternoon.  After renting a car (we got a cadillac, they were out of the Nissan Altima we had reserved) we headed to our condo rental.

Of course there was shopping at the end of the tour.

I bought these necklaces from this guy who claimed to be the biggest Viking fan when he found out where we were from.  (This was the day before the playoff game.)  Of course he followed us around a bit cause he wanted to talk football.

When tour was over we got a free fruit cup.

On the way back to condo stopped at a place called Leoda's for this amazing Lahaina hotdog.

Saturday 1/20/18

Morning walk along the Kapalua Coastal Trail.  We walked to Oneloa Bay and back.

Afternoon drove to what is called the "upcountry" area and visited several farms.  First was Hawaii Sea Spirits Organic Farm & Distillery.  (Basically they just make vodka and rum from sugar cane they grow.)

Then used West Maui Gypsy app and drove up past D.T. Fleming Beach and beyond to where the road narrows and the cliffs are high, with surfers and some guys selling their wears along with tunes, alcohol and the sweet smell of pot.

Wednesday 1/24/18

Whale watching at 6:45 in the morning with Makai Adventures.
This trip was amazing, we saw many active humpback whales, two of them actually breached near our boat.  Small group.  We saw other boats go out with huge crowds.
